Reconciliation of work and family

With the audit “berufundfamilie” the Leibniz Institute of Surface Engineering (IOM) does continuously improve the conditions for reconciliation of work and family for its employees.
A good level has been achieved already with a flexible organization of working time and the possibility of part-time employment. Family-related leave and part-time phases do not present an obstacle to individual development. This level is to be consolidated and developed. Until the re-audit scheduled in 2017 focal points are the establishment of a parent-child room, the topical sensitization of managers and the optimization of information services for employees.
Thus, the IOM is addressing its strategic challenge of bringing performance responsibility and family responsibility into a dynamic equilibrium. The aim is to strengthen the motivation and performance of employees and to increase the institute’s attractiveness as an employer in the competition for highly qualified employees.
