Diploma and Master thesis at IOM

The Leibniz Institute for Surface Modification (IOM) offers permanently themes for diploma/master thesis, preferably in the academics physics, chemistry, material science and physical and chemical engineering.

Themes may originate from following research areas (examples):

  • Investigation of the interaction of ions beams, laser and plasma with solid surfaces
  • Characterisation of surfaces and thin layers
  • Micro-structuring by laser and low-energy ion beams
  • Layer deposition and modification
  • Development of ion sources
  • Synthesis and characterisation of nano structures
  • Bio-compatible surfaces and thin layers
