ISOM XVIII - 18th International Symposium on Olefin Metathesis and Related Chemistry
02. - 07. August 2009, Leipzig
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to
invite you to attend the 18th International Symposium on
Olefin Metathesis and Related Chemistry (ISOM XVIII), to
be held in Leipzig, Germany, from Sunday, August 2
through noon on Friday, August 7, 2009. This symposium is
organized every two years. ISOM XVIII is the follow-up
meeting of previous, very successful meetings in Mainz
(1976), Amsterdam (1977), Lyon (1979), Belfast (1981),
Graz (1983), Hamburg (1985), Hull (1987), Bayreuth
(1989), Collegeville (1991), Tihany (1993), Durham (1995),
St. Augustine (1997), Kerkrade (1999), Boston (2001),
Kyoto (2003), Poznan (2005) and Pasadena (2007). It thus
returns to Germany for the third time 33 years after being
initiated by Prof. H. Höcker.
Metathesis and metathesis-based technologies have gone a long way. The enormous progress was finally acknowledged by the scientific community by awarding the Chemistry Nobel Prize 2005 to Y. Chauvin, R. H. Grubbs and R. R. Schrock. However, many exciting developments have occurred in the area of metathesis since then. The objective of ISOM XVIII is to provide a fruitful platform for cross-disciplinary exchange on the latest developments in this area. A number of leading scientists in that area of research have already agreed to give Plenary and Invited Lectures. I cordially invite you to participate in ISOM XVIII and to present your latest accomplishments in that area of research. The program will cover all aspects of alkene and alkyne metathesis including theory and mechanism, catalyst and initiator design, catalyst immobilization, applications in organic synthesis, polymer chemistry, medical chemistry, materials science and chemical engineering. Significant contributions will also be made from leading industry scientists, thus providing a profound insight into the current state of commercial applications of metathesis. We encourage you to consider submitting a contribution either as a short lecture (20 min) or a poster presenting original unpublished work. We kindly ask you to forward this invitation to any of your colleagues that might be interested in attending. We look forward to seeing you at ISOM XVIII! Michael R. Buchmeiser Chair of ISOM XVIII Ezat Khosravi Secretary General Please find more information on ISOM XVIII on the Symposium Homepage.
16th International Conference on Ion Beam Modification of Materials IBMM2008
31.8. - 5.9.2008, Dresden
We cordially invite you to attend IBMM 2008 at Dresden. The Chairmen of IBMM 2008 Wolfhard Möller Bernd Rauschenbach See the conference website www.ibmm2008.org
9th International Workshop on Plasma Based Ion Implantation and Deposition (PBIID2007)
2. - 6. 09. 2007, Leipzig
At the same time, ion extraction and implantation directly from a plasma allows additional control parameters. Thus, it is a flexible and effective method for modifying large surfaces even of complex geometries. Beside fundamental investigations, many applications in the laboratory scale and even in industry are currently under development. The objective of the 9th International Workshop on Plasma Based Ion Implantation and Deposition (PBII&D 2007) is to provide a fruitful platform for cross-disciplinary exchange of the latest scientific results in this area. The workshop takes place on September 2nd to 6th 2007 in Leipzig, Germany in the new-build KUBUS conference center at the Science Park Leipzig. More information on the workshop homepage www.pbiid2007.org.
3rd European Young Investigator Conference - EYIC 2007
12. - 17. 06. 2007, Slubice, Poland We are pleased to announce the 3rd European Young Investigator Conference (EYIC) to be held on June 13 - 17, 2007, at Collegium Polonicum in Slubice (Poland), a nice city located at the Polish-German boarder (Frankfurt-Oder/Slubice). The conference follows a previous successful gathering of scientists, in particular young investigators. The scope of the conference covers radical chemistry (including radiation chemistry, photo- and laser chemistry) and related disciplines as well as applications in all parts of science. The idea of holding a European Young Investigator Conference (EYIC) was born four years ago within the members of RTN EU Project SULFRAD. The first EYIC was organized by Klaus-Dieter ASMUS (consultant in SULFRAD) and took place as a joint meeting including Deutsches Strahlenchemikertreffen, SULFRAD and European Young Investigators in Slubice (Poland) from May 7 to May 11, 2003. The choice of Slubice as conference venue was meant to stress the European character. Slubice is a small Polish city opposite to the German city of Frankfurt/Oder, divided only by the river Oder. The scope of these Conferences is to bring together chemists, physicists and biologists interested in all aspects of the interaction between radiation (of low and high energy) and matter. All participants should share an interest in Free Radical Chemistry, Radiation Chemistry and Physics, Photochemistry, Radiobiology, Life Sciences and Enviromentally related topics that cover experimental and theoretical aspects. These conferences specifically aim at the active participation of younger scientists. Active participation means that young investigators, typically consisting of graduate students and postdocs below the age of 35, are specifically invited to present their scientific work in the above mentioned fields (orally and/or on posters). Accordingly, any application for an oral contribution by a young investigator will be given preference over those from the older and experienced people. Posters are very welcome from both groups of scientists. It is alreay a kind of tradition that, in addition to regular oral presentations by Young Investigators, invited feature lectures will be presented by well-known experts. The organizers will make every efforts to encourage the participation of young investigators, both female and male, and to enable young investigators to present the results of their scientific work to a highly qualified and experienced international audience. Find more information on the conference website www.eyic2007.org Abstract Submission Deadline: 31.03.2007 Registration deadline: 15.03.2007

IRaP - Symposium on Ionizing Radiation and Polymers
1998, Weinböhla IRaP 98 was organised by the Leibniz-Institut für Oberflächenmodifizierung (IOM) in cooperation with the Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique (CEA, Saclay, France), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA, Vienna, Austria) and the Gesellschaft für Schwerionenforschung (GSI, Darmstadt, Germany). It paid special attention to the field of polymer formation by UV and electron beams (radiation curing) and UV treatment of polymer surfaces. IRaP is a series of international symposia devoted to ionizing radiation effects in polymers. IRaP conferences bring together scientists from research, universities and industry involved in radiation polymer science. The topics cover fundamental processes, modification and characterization of chemical and physical properties as well as technological applications. The programme consists of keynote lectures, invited talks, oral and poster presentations as well as a small industrial exhibition.
