Offers

Through various activities, the IOM would like to inform pupils and other interested parties about the research activities of the institute. The aim is, among other things, to promote interest in physical, chemical and material science problems and interrelationships in order to attract interested pupils for a further science-oriented education or course of study.

Internships

On individual request we offer:

  • Provision of work experience placements for interested pupils
  • Supervision of research work within the framework of "Jugend forscht".
  • Supervision of research work within the framework of "Besondere Lernleistung (BeLL)".

Interested students can inquire about the possibilities with the respective heads of the Fields of Research or Cross-sectional Units.

The scope and framework of all activities depends on the current research work at the IOM and must therefore be coordinated accordingly. We therefore ask for your understanding that these activities can only be offered on a limited basis.

Girls´Day

Every year, the IOM participates in the nationwide Girls' Day - Girls' Future Day. We invite all interested schoolgirls to learn more about the field of technology and science and to get to know the working world in technical professions. Under the motto: "Tailored Surfaces - Research / Development / Practice", the IOM provides an insight into a typical research workshop as well as into various research areas. In direct contact with the institute's staff, there is the opportunity to learn more about different job profiles, such as chemical and physics laboratory assistant or industrial mechanic, as well as other career paths.

Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften

The "Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften" in Leipzig takes place every two years. On one evening from 6 p.m. to midnight, the IOM offers the opportunity to get to know the institution better and to talk to scientists.

The next Long Night of the Sciences Leipzig will take place on 23.06.2023 again in presence and on site at numerous scientific institutions.
