The Leibniz Institute for Surface Engineering (IOM) in Leipzig is seeking to fill the following position with for a limited duration of two years. A permanent position is envisaged following a positive evaluation.
Data Steward (m/f/d)
The Leibniz Institute for Surface Engineering (IOM) is researching new functional and precision surfaces for applications of high societal relevance and emerging technologies. One key focus of IOM is on fundamental physical and chemical processes using ions, electrons, plasmas and photons. We are part of the Leibniz Association, one of the four major non-university science organizations with 96 institutes in Germany.
We are looking for a competent, open-minded personality to strengthen our team as soon as possible. We offer you full-time (40 hours) or part-time (at least 75%) employment with a limitation of provisionally two years. A permanent employment is envisaged after a positive evaluation.

Your tasks:
- Creating and updating a research data management concept for the IOM
- Setting up and managing research data management software
- Support and training in the field of research data management and software development
- Supporting the IOM in third-party funding activities in the field of research data management or software engineering
Our requirements:
- University degree in computer science, chemistry, physics, mathematics or engineering, completed PhD in one of the previously mentioned fields is desirable
- Expertise in research data management in chemistry or physics. Alternatively, proven expertise in software engineering.
- Knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Java, C++, SQL)
- Experience in software development and database systems
- Good communication skills in English and German
