The European Network for NeuroMorphic Computing (EuroNMC) unites insights on biological computing processes with the development of suitable hardware components for AI and other applications. This goal involves more than one discipline – which is exactly where the EuroNMC comes in.
The EuroNMC is developed through the framework of COST – the European Cooperation for Science and Technology, designed to foster pan-European research networks. Every COST action brings together a wide range of outstanding researchers to jointly work on pressing issues, funded over the period of four years. Next to CHIROMAG (Magnetism and chirality: twisting spins, light, and lattices for faster-than-ever spintronics), the EuroNMC is now the second COST action in which the IOM participates.
Being a part of the EuroNMC will be an opportunity for IOM researchers to expand their work on neuromorphic devices and circuits together with an international group of excellent partners. On top of that, the IOM is going to take part in training and resource pooling across the network. At the end of the road, there stands an interdisciplinary and Europe-based research network with a clear commitment to a joint goal: advancing the development of computing components that are inspired by nature itself.
