Leibniz Health Technologies Visits the IOM: 9th Partner Meeting in Leipzig

On June 30, 2026, the IOM hosted the 9th Partner Meeting of the Leibniz Health Technologies research network. The event was co-organized by the “Biocompatible and bioactive surfaces” research field, led by Prof. S. Mayr.

Leibniz Health Technologies is an interdisciplinary research network within the Leibniz Association that brings together the expertise of numerous Leibniz Institutes. Its goal is to accelerate the translation of research findings into medical technology applications, thereby contributing to the improvement of medical care and quality of life.

The IOM contributes to the network in particular with its expertise in radiation-based surface and interfacial research, the modification of functional materials, and the development of innovative technologies for medically relevant applications. In this way, the institute helps to bridge the gap between basic materials science research and application-oriented health technologies.

Prior to the partner meeting, the Leibniz Health Technologies Research Network introduced itself to interested IOM staff members during an informational event. Participants gained insights into the network’s goals, areas of expertise, and opportunities for collaboration.

The partner meeting focused on the further development of the research network, current research activities in the areas of expertise, as well as organizational and financial issues. Among other things, the partners exchanged views on ongoing projects, funding instruments, new grant proposals, and prospects for collaboration.

Following the meeting, participants took a tour of the institute, gaining insights into the IOM’s research, infrastructure, and technological expertise.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the network’s organizers as well as our colleagues on site for their assistance in organizing and supporting the event.
