Nano-Diamonds for Cancer Therapy on Board the MS Wissenschaft 2026

This year, the IOM’s research is part of the exhibition on the MS Wissenschaft. Under the title “Nano-Diamonds for Cancer Therapy – Searching for Traces in the Cell,” project partner Münster University of Applied Sciences is presenting an exhibit from the EU-funded research project “NanoDetect,” in which the IOM is also participating.

The exhibition is part of Science Year 2026 under the theme “Medicine of the Future” and has been touring Germany, Poland, and Austria since May. On board the MS Wissenschaft, visitors gain exciting insights into current developments in medical research, ranging from modern diagnostic procedures to innovative therapeutic approaches.

The exhibit demonstrates how nanodiamonds could be used in cancer diagnostics and therapy in the future. These tiny particles possess unique physical and chemical properties that open up new possibilities for more precise detection and targeted treatment of tumors. The underlying research is being conducted as part of the international EU project “NanoDetect”, which investigates and develops new approaches to cancer diagnostics.

Through its participation in the project, the IOM is making an important contribution to the development of innovative technologies for the medicine of the future and supports interdisciplinary exchange between materials research, diagnostics, and clinical application.
