TGFS Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen invests in qCoat GmbH

TGFS Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen, together with Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Sachsen (MBG), is investing in qCoat GmbH, a start-up of the Leibniz Institute for Surface Modification e.V. Leipzig that was spun off in May 2019. (IOM) Leipzig, thus paving the way for the establishment of its own production for the finishing of membranes based on a technology developed at the IOM. Since the foundation of qCoat GmbH, the team around Christian Wunderlich, Dr. Alexander Braun, Dr. Karsten Otte and Dr. Agnes Schulze has continuously driven the development and strategic orientation of the company and made great progress. With the funds from the TGFS and the MBG, the company is now preparing to set up its own production facility, carry out sampling processes with industrial customers and take the final step from the research environment to the market.

The IOM supports the transfer of research results into commercial applications and promotes technology-based spin-offs in particular. The sustainable support of spin-offs is part of the IOM's transfer strategy and an important cornerstone for the further development of a technology start-up, such as qCoat GmbH. To this end, the IOM provides its own resources, such as infrastructure, and establishes collaboration in long-term cooperative relationships.
