On 17–18 December 2025, the first Winter Quantum Colloquium took place at IFW Dresden, marking the official launch of the EFRE-funded network SAX-QT – Quantum Saxony. The two-day event brought together representatives from academia, industry, and knowledge transfer to discuss current developments and future perspectives in quantum technologies.
The Leibniz Institute of Surface Engineering (IOM) Leipzig was represented by Dr. Kirill Monakhov, who delivered an invited talk entitled “Chemistry of Quantum Systems.” His presentation highlighted chemical approaches to functional quantum systems and materials at the interface between molecules and solids, emphasizing the role of chemistry as a key enabler for emerging quantum effects and next-generation quantum materials.
In addition to scientific contributions on quantum materials, sensorics, transport, computing, and software development, the event provided a platform for exchange and networking within the Saxon quantum community. The official launch of SAX-QT represents an important step toward strengthening cross-institutional collaboration in quantum science and technology across Saxony.
