IOM cordially invites you to the workshop “Future key in laser-based surface engineering” which will take place in Leipzig on July 2–3, 2026.

The workshop brings together researchers in the field of laser-based surface processing and offers a platform for interdisciplinary exchange on current developments, innovative methods, and future research trends. The focus is particularly on combining laser-based processes with other beam-based technologies as well as chemical methods for the targeted modification and functionalization of surfaces.

In addition to scientific presentations and discussions, the event offers a wide range of opportunities for networking within the international scientific community. The goal is to promote knowledge transfer between different disciplines, initiate new collaborations, and, in particular, provide young scientists with inspiration for future research activities.

The workshop is aimed at dedicated researchers in the field of laser-material interactions, particularly:

  • Early-career researchers who have completed their doctorates,
  • Doctoral students with innovative research projects in the field of laser technologies,
  • Experienced researchers who wish to contribute their expertise and establish new scientific collaborations and
  • Researchers from industry.

The event offers an excellent opportunity to present and discuss current research results, as well as to establish international contacts and explore new perspectives in an exciting field of research.
