We develop liquid UV-curable polymeric (nanocomposite) coatings according to application needs. These can be structured with low damage and high resolution using laser or microreplication processes. The coatings offer following advantages:
- application with conventional coating, printing or impression technologies (roll-to-roll applicable)
- fast curing, UV and abrasion resistant
- flexible functionalization by structuring (UV imprint)
- applications as tool coating ((im)printing form) and material surface (film, lacquer)
One example of application is the development of novel polymer cylinder surfaces that can be used as a structuring medium in printing and molding processes. Characterization of the surfaces is possible both topographically, chemically and with regard to various material properties.
Expertise
- Delevopment of UV curable coating formulations for structured functional surfaces
- Dispersion of nanomaterials in UV curable coating formulations
- Roll-to-roll replication of micro- and nanostructures (UV-(N)IL)

GRAVOmer
The GRAVOmer project is an initiative of the funding scheme "WIR! - Change through Regional Innovation" of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). With GRAVOmer, IOM is involved as an initial partner in networking central German competencies in the application-related design of structured surfaces on an industrial scale.
