DFG SPP 2262 MemrisTec Seminar 2025 held in Leipzig

From 25–27 November 2025, the annual MemrisTec Seminar took place in Leipzig, hosted by the IOM. The seminar provided PhD, master, and diploma students from across the MemrisTec research program with a platform to present and discuss the progress of their theses in an interdisciplinary setting.

The seminar program focused strongly on the individual research paths of junior scientists. Participants received constructive feedback from peers and senior researchers, strengthening knowledge exchange and supporting successful and timely thesis completion.

The program included student presentations, guided tours through several IOM laboratories, and two impulse talks on career paths and the research landscape in Germany given by Yeliz Unutulmazsoy (Plasma-assisted deposition of thin films) and Benedikt Bagemihl (Switchable molecularly functionalized surfaces).

Additionally, Kirill Monakhov (Switchable molecularly functionalized surfaces) delivered a lecture on “A Molecular Chemical Route to Quantum Information Processing and Neuromorphic Computing.”

The event fostered valuable discussions, strengthened collaboration across MemrisTec, and offered young researchers new perspectives for their scientific development.

“I am very pleased to see how dedicated and creative the young scientists within MemrisTec are in their work. I wish them all great success on their scientific path and I look forward to seeing where their research will lead.” – Kirill Monakhov
