A scientific roundtable discussion entitled “Dynamics, Defects, Design: Rethinking Radiation Chemistry” was recently held at the IOM. The meeting was attended by over 20 representatives from German universities as well as researchers from the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Leibniz Institutes, and the Max Planck Society.
The event, which was funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), focused on preparing a possible priority program in the field of modern radiation chemistry. The aim was to strategically develop the field of research and provide new impetus for coordinated, cross-location collaboration.
The day's program included presentations by the participating institutes, scientific lectures on the topic, and laboratory tours. In a concluding working session, potential synergies were identified and initial joint conceptual approaches for a possible application were developed.
The roundtable discussion thus represented an important step toward pooling expertise and developing a joint research strategy.
