A research success in water treatment

A research success in water treatment: Reports of hormones and hormone-like substances in drinking and surface waters have raised significant concerns around the world. At the IOM a polymer membrane with an adsorber surface was developed that is able to remove the hormone estradiol from water with high efficiency. The modification of a commercial microfiltration membrane led to a doubling of the adsorber capacity and suggests that the hormone is bound due to specific interactions.
