On 8 May, Erik Rohkamm impressed the examination board of the Faculty of Physics and Earth System Sciences at Leipzig University with an outstanding oral performance as part of his doctoral proceedings and defended his dissertation with magna cum laude. Mr Rohkamm, a research associate in the ‘Ultra-Precision Surfaces/Ion assisted Patterning and Smoothing’ research department at the IOM, focused his doctoral thesis on the topic of ‘Characterisation of the reactive species of an RF-excited broad beam ion source and their influence on the etching behaviour of optical relevant’. The examination board consisted of Prof. Dr. Jan Meijer (chair), Prof. Dr. André Anders and PD. Dr. Stephan Mändl.
