Central German innovation network receives further funding

BMBF approves seven million euros for further development of the GRAVOmer Alliance for Functional Surfaces

Whether in industrial plants, on glass panes or on sensors - functional surfaces are important for many technical innovations. Nevertheless, their large-scale production is often not yet fully developed. The Central German business alliance GRAVOmer, initiated by the IOM together with Sächsische Walzengravur SWG and Herlac Coswig, has been actively supporting innovations on this topic since 2019, especially in small and medium-sized enterprises in the region. It can now look forward to receiving funding to further expand its activities. With around seven million euros, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research is funding further projects in the areas of material development, structuring methods and technological implementation.
GRAVOmer has set itself three priorities for the upcoming second project phase: First, it will establish a competence center. In this way, the alliance wants to create an offer for partners and interested companies to get to know surface functions and technologies and to make the competences of the locally active companies visible also beyond the region. In addition, further innovation projects are to be launched in which the company partners can further develop their competencies to meet current challenges. Furthermore, GRAVOmer offers seminars for further education and advocates the flexibilization of training and higher education in this field in order to support its partners in the fight against the shortage of skilled workers.
