From May 03 to 04, 2023, the spring meeting of the Leibniz Association's Press and Public Relations Working Group took place at the IOM. After a welcome by the director of the IOM, the 76 participants discussed and exchanged ideas on topics of science communication. Good practice examples from Leibniz institutes were presented and reports from the office were given. In addition, guest speaker Daniel Schlechter, editor at MDR Wissen, spoke about the effects of digitalization and changing media use on science reporting in public broadcasting and the associated challenges. Interested visitors also had the opportunity to visit the exhibition "Jewish Album. Photographs by Rita Ostrovska" at the Leibniz Institute for Jewish History and Culture - Simon Dubnowdas or to participate in the audio walk "Historical Authenticity" in the center of Leipzig, organized by the Leibniz Institute for History and Culture of Eastern Europe. Furthermore, the guests had the opportunity to visit the cloud laboratory of the Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research and the application center of the IOM at the Science Park Permoserstraße.
The Press Working Group serves the exchange of experience in questions of press and public relations work and develops concepts as well as measures for the internal and external communication of the Leibniz Association. The working group is open to full-time press and public relations staff as well as volunteers of the Leibniz Association with a focus in this area. The members of the working group meet twice a year.
