Once again this year, the IOM had a booth at the 17th OPTATEC 2026 in Frankfurt am Main. The international trade fair for optical technologies once again provided an excellent platform for presenting the institute’s current research and development work to an international audience of experts from academia and industry.
The focus of the exhibition was on work in the areas of “Ion Beam-assisted Structuring and Smoothing” and “Plasma Jet based Ultra-precision Surface Figuring”. The technologies presented address key challenges in modern optical manufacturing processes and enable the production of high-precision surfaces with functional properties.
At OPTATEC 2026, participants had numerous opportunities to exchange ideas with industry partners, research institutions, and potential users. The high level of interest in the presented technologies underscores the great relevance of innovative surface and shaping processes for future applications in photonics and precision optics.
OPTATEC is one of the leading international trade fairs for optical technologies, components, and systems. Held every two years, it brings together experts from industry, research, and development and is regarded as a key meeting place for innovations in the fields of photonics, precision optics, and optical manufacturing technologies.
