Yesterday, Prof. Eva Inés Obergfell, Rector of Leipzig University, visited the IOM. In a constructive discussion with Institute Director Prof. André Anders and the IOM management team, the expansion of the existing strategic collaboration was discussed, among other things. The possibility of jointly filling professorships in the coming years was also discussed. During an informative tour of the IOM, Prof. Obergfell was also given an insight into the institute's research work. The focus was on the research field "Ultra-precision surfaces/ion beam assisted structuring and smoothing" and the two existing and very successful joint labs with the University of Leipzig: "Surface engineering with mass selected molecular ions" (Head: Dr. Jonas Warneke (University of Leipzig), Dr. Kirill Monakhov (IOM)) and "Single Ion Implantation" (Head: Prof. Dr. Jan Meijer (University of Leipzig), Dr. Daniel Spemann (IOM)).
